I hear the word ‘sneaky’ and I think ‘goblin’ I can’t help it.
These three are some digital collages I made in one of my classes during first year. The brief was to use found imagery and textures to create a digital collage. Needless to say, I enjoyed myself immensely and looking back at them makes me want to look for more images and create more of them, especially more in the same vein as the first one. The textures are scanned from a pad of fancy collage paper I still haven’t used in real life because it’s so pretty I’m afraid to waste it.
Most of the images are either from the texture pad, or from various history books. The demonic face in the second collage is one of my own drawings from a fair while ago.
A quicker painting I did of an opening scene in a novel that I am (lamentably still) working on. Whether the scene stays or not remains to be seen, but the painting I quite like. I enjoyed the lighting on this one, and it’s lighting that will come back multiple times, since painting the monster and the character that grows from the monster is something I enjoy doing far too much. She’s a very interesting villain.
This was a painting I did partly as a piece of fanart and partly as practice for painting digitally. I tried several new techniques and while this is a direct copy of a screenshot, it was a useful copy since I learned a huge amount about my process and about the way I can paint, things that would have taken many, many non-referenced paintings for me to learn, I think.
I love the slenderman mythos in equal amounts as it terrifies me, so of course I had to make a creepy painting of the man himself. Slenderman is an interesting subject that I plan to come back to, since usually a lot of my focus is on the face of a character, but this one has no face, so the entire mood has to be created from other elements. In this case I used a single prop and undefined background.
A painting of Sam Winchester from Supernatural, with a demonic form. In the show, Sam is the body destined for possession by Lucifer, so I decided I had to paint him with traditionally demonic attributes, as well as including a demon summoning circle.
I don’t work much in traditional paint at the moment, so the end result is quite pleasing to me, although I still have a lot of studying to do with the medium.
